Senokot Syrup

Senokot Syrup Pharmacy is a reliably effective laxative made with Calcium sennosides (senna) treated especially to yield a constant amount of active ingredient in each dose, to give predictable constipation relief.

Directions for use:

Adults and children over 12: Take two to four 5ml spoonfuls at night.

Children over 6: Take one to two 5ml spoonfuls in the morning.

Children 2-6: Take half to one 5ml spoonful in the morning.

New users should start with the lowest dose and increase if necessary by one half of initial dose each day. Once regularity has been regained, dosage should be reduced and can usually be stopped.

Senokot usually acts within 8-12 hours. Dose can be repeated on a daily basis until bowel action is restored, but if there is no bowel movement within three days of use, consult your doctor.

Ingredients:

A 5ml spoonful contains calcium sennosides equivalent to 7.5mg total sennosides (calculated as sennoside B) in a fruit flavoured base with methyl (E218) and propyl (E216) parahydroxybenzoates, potassium sorbate (E202), maltitol syrup (E965), xanthan gum, antifoam emulsion, prune flavour, citric acid and water. This medicinal product contains small amounts of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100mg per dose. Sugar free.

For safe use:

Keep out of reach and sight of children.

If laxatives are needed every day, or abdominal pain persists, please consult your doctor.

Do not take if you know you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Note that if you are a diabetic each 5ml contains 3.2kcal.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist if:

  • you have sharp or persistent stomach pain
  • your abdomen is tender to the touch or hurts when you move
  • you accidentally take too much Senokot Syrup
  • you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars

Do not store above 25ºC. Do not freeze. Replace cap firmly. If seal on cap is broken do not use. Do not use after the expiry date.

You may experience temporary mild stomach pains if changing dosage.
